Mother had us over for a delicious lunch after church. Hadley and Daniel decided that it was then time for a nap.
April 28, 2012
I started feeling bad last night while Mother, Hadley and I were at a performance of Les Miserables, and woke up this morning feeling absolutely terrible. This mystery, cups of tea and Emergen C, and my wonderful pillow have been my companions today.

Calleigh left for her senior trip this morning. We met at McDonald's at 7:00 a.m. They are going to Gatlinburg and will return very late Sunday night. They will have fun at Dollywood and do some hiking.

This is the story I have been listening to while scrapooking. I finished it today and recommend it for a fun summer read or listen.
April 25, 2012
I am deterrmined to complete Calleigh's senior book this week. This is a shot I took of all the books they have used for their Shakespeare class.
April 24, 2012
I love irises. They are such old-fashioned flowers. This deep purple is one of my favorites, though I have had some very unusal colored varieties in the past. I once had one that was all the shades of the sunset.

This weekend was the library book sale. Greg and Calleigh attended both Saturday and Sunday. The top photo shows one of the six boxes they brought home. On Sunday you pay $1 for all the books you want. The bottom photo shows that Calleigh must reorganize her bookshelves to make room for all her finds. Mimzie is supervising.
I don't know where they are going to put all of these books. They are scoping out spots that they can fit more shelves.

"Gaston" with Mr. and Mrs. Edem
"Gaston" and his "Silly Girls?"
Last week we missed getting photos of all of Riley's friends who came to see him in the show. This weekend we thankfully caught a couple.

I got a treat in today's mail! My newest issue of Scrapbooks, etc. I have fixed myself a Diet Coke and am going to take a break on the porch swing and enjoy.

These B-25 WWII airplanes are in town to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Doolittle raid on Japan. There are many things planned at the WPAFB Museum to remember this historical event. It is planned for the five still-living members of the raid to be in attendance.
April 17, 2012
I am scrapbooking tonight with Sharon and spent last night and most of this morning pulling together photos of the last six years for Calleigh's senior book. I am glad that I am under pressure to get this done or else I may have become stuck in my "walk down memory lane". While there are so many happy memories to relive while looking through these photos, I am also saddened by how fast the time has flown and by the many things that have changed.

These are some of my favorite photos from Beauty and the Beast. Today was the Friends & Family Show. I will probably do a Beauty and the Beast album, especially since it was double cast and next weekend Riley will be a different character.
April 14, 2012
Riley's theater group performed Beauty and the Beast today at The Sanctuary nursing home. I sat next to the lady in the yellow, she was so sweet and loved that the kids put so much work into their performance and that they shared it with the residents. I wish I had better photos of the residents, but it was so crowded and once the play was over people immediately began moving around which made a good photo nearly impossible.
April 13, 2012
Grandma Joann came up for a visit. Calleigh is showing her a scrapbook she had made of her writing workshop.

What a treat! Greg, Mother, Calleigh and I returned home after Calleigh's soccer game to a nice, warm meal made by Hadley and Daniel. Not only did I not have to cook, but they made one of our favorites, Chicken Pepper Pasta. Yum!
April 11, 2012
On the way to church tonight my family did something we used to do all the time together but have not in a very long time. We listened to Adventures in Odyssey on the radio. Adventures in Odyssey is a radio program from Focus on the Family Listening to the adventures was a wonderful part of my kids' childhood. On Wednesday nights especially we always tuned in and listened on the way to Awana. A few of the cds were so loved that they need to be replaced because of use beyond the normal expectancy of a cd.
We own all the sets through #54 and in fact this year I started with number one an am listening to them in order. I splice them in between my audio books. I have listened to ten so far and am enjoying them just as much as ever. They are truly classic.

Soccer season has begun. What a chilly evening! Calleigh bundled up for the game, but her fingers were freezing! Mother and I watched from the inside of the van. Calleigh's team was glad to start off the season with a win.
April 9, 2012
I must be honest here and say that I did not take a photo today, Monday. This is actually a photo from Tuesday, but I cannot bear to leave a date with no photo so I am cheating.
On my way home this evening I noticed how pretty the colors of the sun setting were and so I decided to try to get a better view. As I drove through Oakwood I wondered if I could get a neat shot from Smith Gardens. Of course, since I did not turn on my usual road to get to Smith Gardens, I sort of got lost. Not to be distracted from chasing the sunset I kept driving toward it hoping for a break in the trees. The last two shots were as close to an unobstucted view as I could get. The colors were amazing and my adventure of chasing a sunset memorable. I even found a 63 acre park located five minutes from my house that I did not know even existed. Quite an interesting, round-about way to end the day.
April 8, 2012 Easter
Skyeler actually shot this photo for me.
Easter began with a chilly sunrise service at 7:00 a.m. God pushed away the clouds enough that we truly saw the sun rise. This service was followed by a delicious pitch-in breakfast.
The choir sang a contata of many Easter favorites during the Sunday school hour. Morning worship service began with a duet by Hadley and Becky Beverly accompanied by the choir. This was special as it will probably be Hadley's last time to sing with our choir since she and Daniel will be attending his church after their wedding.
It was a lovely morning of worship of our risen Savior and Pastor blessed us with a message that touched our hearts.
INSERT PHOTO OF LUNCH AT GAMMIES
After a delicious lunch and relaxing time of visiting on the deck at the Gammies we went home to have our Easter traditions. The kids hunted eggs (I suppose we will stop doing this someday, but hey, Grandma Gloria puts good stuff in those eggs!), Riley did not find very many this year, but he did find the most eggs with money in them.
Everyone enjoyed the goodies in their Easter baskets. Greg was happy with his favorite Easter treat--bubblegum eggs.
It was a wonderful day filled with worship, friends and family.
April 7, 2012
Finally finished! I don't mind cooking, in fact I usually enjoy it. But all the dirty dishes, oh my, and these were only half of them. I did the majority of the cooking for my contributions to Easter dinner yesterday and the counter was full of the mess! Greg helped some with the washing up today which is always appreciated!
I do think as long as my children live in my house I will insist that we dye eggs for Easter.
April 6, 2012
Lilacs are one of my absolute favorite spring fragrances. Riley always picks them for me, just like Jem picking the first mayflowers for Anne in the Anne of Green Gables books.
April 5, 2012
A cozy way to spend an early spring morning--a cup of tea while deciding which new library book to begin, all while rocking on the front porch. Bliss!
April 4, 2012
Hadley and Daniel's 2011 album is one of the projects I worked on last night at Tuesday Night Scrapbooking. I completed March and April photos.
April 2, 2012
Our Shakespeare group spent time weeding around the church before our afternoon session on Romeo and Juliet. It was chilly, but a beautiful morning.
