The UPS man has been a frequent visitor to our front porch. Hadley usually waits for Daniel to open the gifts, but she and Calleigh could not wait to see what could be in these huge, but very light, boxes. (The boxes contained the pillows they had registered for and were from my friend, Vicky Norton, in Louisville).

Air-conditioning--one of my favorite modern day conveniences. We have had such a hot summer, I have been very thankful for this unit in our sunroom.

Five days until the wedding! Today, Mrs. Williams, Mother, DiAnn, and I ironed 44 table cloths and Mrs. Williams also ironed the two huge table skirts. Many hands make light work!

This is Hadley's last Sunday at EBC as she will begin attending Washington Heights Baptist after the wedding. I did not cry. I knew if I started I would have a hard time stopping. I will miss her singing and playing her cello. But most of all I will miss her worshipping with us every Sunday more than I can say. I am of course very thankful that she is marrying such a Godly man, and this makes the transition much easier.

On the way home from their trip Dan and Angel surprised the kids with a stop over in Hershey. They had fun making their own chocolate bars. Calleigh's had raspberries and toffee. Riley added butterscotch chips and dipped it white chocolate, then, milk chocolate and then added some sprinkles.

Since the kids were not returning from the teen trip until around midnight, Sharon thought it would be fun to pass the time playing cards. After playing Back Alley we played Canasta. It was fun, but it would have been more fun if I would have won!

Jessica came over this afternoon and she and Hadley worked on wedding programs. Later in the evening we attended Hadley's summer voice recital. It was fun as the students performed broadway musical songs, unfortunately all the photos were blurry.

Hadley's Aunt Lisa had a fun idea for a shower gift. She ordered a cute bag with lots of pockets from "31" and then set out to buy goodies with which to fill it for their honeymoon. Finding all the goodies was easy with a little help from Calleigh regarding Hadley and Daniel's favorite things. The day of the shower drew nearer and still no package, then came a back order notice! Lisa still came to the shower and the kept us amused with her "Lisaness". Finally the bag came and since it was filled with things to take on their trip Lisa, Tony, Ben and Penny delivered the gift to Ohio. We all had a nice afternoon and they got to see Hadley and Daniel's apartment and were their first out of town visitors.

An amazing sunrise to greet the EBC teens as they leave on their summer teen trip. This year's baptist history trip will take them to Massachusettes, New York, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. I wish I could go too!

I like to think of myself as a fairly responsible person. This assessment, however, fails to apply to the area of cell phones. This is my third new phone in seven months. I have washed one and lost one. This time I bought the cheapest one available-$29.99.

On our way to Hadley and Daniel's apartment Calleigh spotted these cute kids and their popcicle stand. She had me stop the van so she could buy one from them. Too adorable.

I took Greg to the airport at 6 this morning as he was going to the Oshkosh Air Show. I was so excited to find our sidewalk wet with rain. It has been such a hot, dry summer. We need rain so badly.

Breakfast with Grandma Gloria at the Pancake House. The girls and I had never been to this Dayton institution. We all enjoyed it. I had Hawiian pancakes with tropical syrup--so delicious.

LOVED, LOVED,LOVED this book. I don't even like non-fiction generally. My first trip into travel literature and what an interesting and enjoyable journey. Needless to say I want this one for my book shelf.

Saturday morning fried potatoes are a long standing tradition, but Greg has lately been working on improving them. In my opinion they are close to perfection.

Riley loves preforming in the VBS skits.
VBS carnival and picnic. It looks like Riley drew the short straw on games.

A very successful, albeit pricey, visit to Half-Price Books. All of this cost less than one of the books and one of the magazines originally cost. I found my favorite cooking magazines that are $9.99 new for $.50. This store has me so spoiled I rarely consider buying books or magazines new anymore.

As I have posted previously, I broke down the wedding planning into manageable bites by placing tasks on post-it notes. Riley thought he would add one of his own.
July 17, 2012
The first things moved into Hadley and Daniel's apartment were all the wonderful shower gifts and their couch. They bought it used from Home to Home and it had been taking up space in his parents' dining area.
July 16, 2012
Riley and I have been playing a lot of backgammon lately and so I thought a photo would be appropriate. Calleigh evidently was in a goofy mood and gave Riley rabbit ears for my shot.

What a weekend. Today was Hadley's bridal shower at Washington Heights Baptist. What a blessing to receive so many lovely gifts!
July 13, 2012
Hadley and Daniel picked up the keys to their apartment today, 117 Maple Ave., Apartment B, Centerville, Ohio. They can begin moving Monday.
July 10, 2012
Calleigh smiling with her Grandma Gloria. We celebrated Mother's birthday at our house with a cookout and cake and of course presents.

Today Hadley was baptised. This came after months, if not years, of convincing herself she was saved because she knew all the right answsers, then doubting her salvation. It was a long journey for my girl and the important end was that she came to the conclusion that she had never really totally surrendered her life to Jesus and she needed to stop wondering where she stood with God and give herself completely over to Him. Overnight I noticed a change in her heart and attitudes, the burden of sin and doubt had been swept away. Praise God!

A Dayton Dragons game is such a fun experience and good tickets are not easy to come by, so Hadley and Daniel were excited to be given these tickets from Mr. Williams. As fun as the game was I was surprised they stayed for all of it as our high temp today was unbelieveable!
