We began preparations for Thanksgiving first thing this morning.  Riley made the beef dip and the cranberry relish.

We completed as much as we could today so that tomorrow would be more relaxing.  Hadley and Mother both came to help.  Mother always makes the pies.

I am thankful for our refridgerator full of food for tomorrow.  God has provided abundantly.

Crafting Happiness!  I have been looking at Goodwill since last fall for Scrabble games so I could use the tiles in crafts.  I never dreamed it would take so long to find one.  But happy day--I found two--both practically new!

I have wrapped Hadley and Daniel's 24 Days of Christmas.  They are ready and waiting for the countdown to begin.

It is my month to teach Junior Church.  Of course we are discussing thankfullness.  Calleigh has been helping me out.  We were missing several kids this week as they were travelling for Thanksgiving.

Today Hadley, Calleigh, Sharon, Elizabeth, June and I followed tradition by shopping at the Christmas bazzar at Kettering Fairmont HS (though it was our first year without Victoria).  I planned on taking a photo of us all, but left my camera in Calleigh's purse and she had to leave early, so this is a photo of the goodies I bought.

Sharon and I had not chatted in quite a while so we met for tea at Eclipse.  We enjoyed hot cinnamon spice tea in these cute mugs and spent a few hours catching up.

Calleigh's first paycheck!

Shopping with Riley is - an experience - to say the least.  Today while at Sam's he stated that it had a been a long time since he had thrown a temper tantrum and so he was going to sit between these matresses until I gave in and bought him the little bottles of Sunny D.  Needless to say he did get up and he did NOT get his little bottles of Sunny D.  Of course he was not serious (at least I hope not).  He is a great help with all the heavy stuff at Sam's and keeps me laughing down the aisles.

Riley drew this logo for his theater group.  It depicts things from some of the plays they have done so far.

My co-op class is studying ancient China.  For fun I took several of the things Hadley had brought back from her trip there.  The girls had fun trying on the silk dress.  Aly is pictured here.

This was my grandma's biscuit cutter, it must not be a magic biscuit cutter though as mine are never as delicious as I remember hers being.

Election Day.  This day came with  prayer and fasting, but our plans are not God's plans and the results were not what we had hoped.  Much prayer will be needed as we go through the next four years.

Handsome Sam had me charmed in the nursery this morning at church.

Hadley and I went to a few craft bazzars this morning.  We had such a fun time together.  One of the goodies we brought home was this pouch of catnip.  Solo went a little crazy over it.  She licked it untiil it was a sodden mess!

Calleigh made us all a delicious treat--vanilla "hot chocolate".

Calleigh's first day of work at Joann's--her first real job!

October 31, 2012

Happy Halloween!  I made my mother's sugar cookies and Calleigh frosted them.  (another one of our fall traditions.  Later that evening we made pizza and watched a "scary" movie.  This is one of our most important fall traditions.  Greg and I had our first "date" 33 years ago on Halloween.  He bought me a 33 Miles cd since it was our 33rd halloween together. Our first date consisted of him coming to my house (we were only 15), us making pizza, watching a "scary" movie on tv, and then my dad coming home from work late and bring us a pizza as a treat.

A thoughtful thank-you gift from my mother.

Priscilla began this baby blanket last spring in my knitting class at co-op.  I am so proud of her--she stuck with it and completed what she started!

October 28, 2012

We ordered pizza at Mother's after church and then some of us watched football and some played canasta.  It is wonderful that Mother is feeling better enough to enjoy playing cards.  I have missed our canasta games.
